HONOLULU, HAWAIʻI—September 11, 2026—The Stone ʻOhana and First Hawaiian Bank today announced a combined $500,000 contribution to assist families, businesses and communities on Kauaʻi impacted by the devastating effects of Hurricane Lowell.
The contribution launches “Kauaʻi Stronger Together,” a collaborative effort focused on supporting Kauaʻi’s recovery through locally rooted nonprofit organizations with established relationships and a deep understanding of the islands.
The Stone ʻOhana and First Hawaiian Bank will each contribute $250,000, with the funds distributed among three organizations supporting recovery efforts: Hanalei Initiative, Hawaiian Council and Hawaiʻi Community Foundation.
Kauaʻi is not just a place to us — we feel a deep responsibility to mālama the island community during this difficult time,” said Jeffrey R. Stone, founder of The Resort Group. “Our family has been fortunate to have had the opportunity to steward land in Hawaiʻi for generations. With that privilege comes a responsibility to give back, particularly when our communities are facing extraordinary challenges. We hope this contribution provides meaningful help to families and businesses as they begin their recovery.”
The Stone family has a longstanding connection to Hawaiʻi and a decades-long history of investment and stewardship in the Islands. Jeffrey R. Stone and his daughter, Chynna Stone, represent a continuing generation of that commitment, with the family having played a significant role in the development and stewardship of communities including Ko Olina on Oʻahu and Princeville on Kauaʻi.
For the Stones, the connection to Kauaʻi is particularly meaningful. The family’s history on the island has reinforced the importance of preserving the character of Hawaiʻi’s communities while supporting opportunities that benefit the people who call the Islands home.
“First Hawaiian Bank’s roots on Kauaʻi go back to 1911, and for more than a century we have had the privilege of serving generations of families and businesses across the island,” said Robert Harrison, Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of First Hawaiian Bank.
“We care deeply about Kauaʻi and understand how important it is to be there for our communities when they need us most. We hope this contribution provides meaningful support to those impacted by Hurricane Lowell and helps Kauaʻi recover and rebuild.”
The announcement comes as Kauaʻi continues to respond to significant damage caused by Hurricane Lowell, with the destruction to infrastructure, businesses and homes on the island projected to surpass $400 million.
The $500,000 contribution is intended as a foundation for additional community support, with donations directed to three nonprofit organizations whose work encompasses immediate assistance, recovery and long-term community resilience: Hanalei Initiative, Hawaiian Council and Hawaiʻi Community Foundation. Through their complementary efforts, the organizations are helping address needs resulting from the hurricane while supporting the longer-term work of rebuilding and strengthening Kauaʻi communities.

“The people of Kauaʻi have always demonstrated extraordinary strength, aloha and resilience,” said Stone. “Kauaʻi Stronger Together is about coming together to help where help is needed most and supporting the people and organizations that will be there throughout the recovery.”
The Stone ʻʻohana and First Hawaiian Bank encourage individuals, businesses and organizations throughout Hawaiʻi to support the ongoing recovery efforts through Hanalei Initiative, Hawaiian Council or the Hawaiʻi Community Foundation.
