PRINCEVILLE AT HANALEI, KAUAI, HAWAII: Registration is now open for the first annual Prince Invitational Tournament, July 24 and 25, hosted by Hawaii’s top-ranked Princeville Prince Golf Course on Kauai’s north shore. The two-day event is open to professionals and amateurs, competing for the championship title. Sponsorship packages and opportunities are available, as well, for this premier event.
“Kauai is home to some of Hawaii’s top amateur players and junior golfers, yet it is the only island without a competitive golf event, since the Kauai Open was discontinued eight years ago,” notes Prince Course’s Director of Golf, Steve Murphy. “We want to fill that void with a new annual event, and we invite amateurs, juniors, and professionals from Kauai and across the state to join us for an enjoyable competition and a true test of their skills.” The Prince, ranked by Golf Digest as Hawaii’s number one course, is also considered to be one of the most spectacular--and challenging--golf courses in the state.
The Prince Invitational Tournament is a 36-hole stroke play format with four flights, based on the USGA Handicap Index: Professional/Championship (handicap of 5 or less), A Flight (handicap 6-11), B Flight (handicap 12-18), and Women’s (open).
The overall champion will be the player with the lowest 36-hole gross score. Professionals will compete for cash prizes and amateurs for merchandise, with the amount of the final purse determined by the number of entries and sponsors.
The $175 entry fee includes green fees, prizes, tee gifts, and the Awards Luncheon on Sunday afternoon. Entry is limited to the first 120 players, with an entry deadline of July 16. Pre-event practice rounds will be offered to registered golfers at a specially reduced rate.
Entry forms for the Prince Invitational Tournament are available at Kauai golf course pro shops across the island or by requesting a form via email at email@example.com. For inquiries regarding the event or sponsorship opportunities, contact Steve Murphy, Director of Golf, at (808) 826-5065, email SMurphy@Princeville.com.
Designed by Robert Trent Jones, Jr., the 18-hole Prince Course has been consistently ranked by Golf Digest in recent years as Hawaii’s number one golf course and is the only course in the State of Hawaii to be recognized on Golf Digest’s 2009/2010 list of America’s “Top 100 Greatest Courses.”
