This is one of Kauai's top resorts and is located about an hour from the Lihue Airport on the cooler, greener and wetter North Shore of the island. The regal non-smoking hotel boasts one of the most stunning settings in Hawaii, with breathtaking views of Hanalei Bay and the mountains visible through nearly every window. The resort reopened in 2009 after a monumental renovation that added a luxurious spa and a few more Hawaiian accents. Accommodations are spacious, and the showers have liquid-crystal windows that allow you to gaze at the scenery --- for privacy, click a switch and the window clouds over.
The recently renovated par 72 Prince Golf Course, named after the Hawaiian Prince Albert Kamehameha, was designed by Robert Trent Jones, Jr. with five sets of golf tees for various levels of ability. The black tees are the most difficult and reserved for players with a handicap of five or less. Since this course is set against the ocean on Kauai's green North Shore, the winds can become quite strong, so make sure to plan ahead and bring extra golf balls.
10. Turtle Bay Resort
