The Four Seasons Resort Hualalai on the Big Island earned top honors in Conde Nast Traveler’s 2012 readers poll of the top spa resorts in Hawaii.
The spa, which moved up from fifth place last year, earned an overall score of 97, with scores of 97.4 for treatments and staff, and 96.2 for facilities.
The readers who participated in the poll had a total of 46,352 visits to hotel, resort and cruise ship spas, and a place on the lists of the top 270 spas in North American, the Caribbean, Hawaii and at sea could only be earned after “many visits by many Conde Nast Traveler readers,” the magazine said.
The Grand Wailea on Maui tied for second on the Hawaii list with a score of 95.3 with the Kauai Marriott Resort, which earned a perfect score of 100 for its staff.
In the No. 4 position was the St. Regis Princeville Resort with an overall score of 94.8 and a score of 97.8 for treatments, the highest for Hawaii spas in that category.
The fifth-place Wailea Beach Marriott Resort & Spa had an overall score of 94.7, which included a perfect 100 for facilities.
The Spa at Travaasa Hana on Maui, which was the top resort spa on the 2012 list, is not on the 2013 list.
